Used Google 3D animals? Now try these apps to bring AR animals at your home

During the COVID-19 lockdown, many individuals are utilizing their spare time by exploring Google 3D animals for entertainment. Google introduced this feature at its 2019 I/O event, and we have previously provided instructions on how to experience augmented reality (AR) animals at home. It’s important to note that not all smartphones support the Google 3D animals feature. Here is a list of smartphones that do support it. Additionally, not all animals are available in 3D AR; the specific list can be found here.

If you’ve already tried Google 3D animals and are looking for alternative apps, we have compiled a list for you:

  1. **Animals Safari AR:**

Available on both the Play Store and App Store, Animals Safari AR aims to bring a safari experience to your home. Similar to Google 3D animals, you need to log in and sign up for free. The app, with no in-app purchases, lets you view virtual animals in the real world using augmented reality. You can capture pictures and share videos on social media.

  1. **Chantecaille Wild Beauty:**

This app, found on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, functions similarly to Google 3D animals. After installation and signup, you can watch six of Africa’s most endangered species, including cheetah, elephants, giraffe, lion, pangolin, and rhinoceros. You can take pictures with these animals and share them on social media. Unlike Google 3D animals, this app allows you to move the animals around your space or take a photo with them at rest.

  1. **Dinosaurs in AR: Evolution (iOS):**

Exclusive to iOS, this app lets you see dinosaurs in the real world. It not only displays AR dinosaurs but also provides detailed information about them. This educational aspect makes it suitable for children, helping them learn about dinosaur evolution.

  1. **Safari Central: Wildlife AR:**

Available on both iOS and Android devices, this app functions similarly to Google 3D animals. It allows you to observe wild animals in AR at home. The app includes in-app purchases to unlock additional animals. Some of the available animals include Beby the Indri Lemur, Ethyl the Grizzly Bear, Mweturia the African Elephant, Atiaia the Jaguar, Rockstar the Ground Pangolin, and Lola the Black Rhino. You can have these wild animals in your home, take pictures with them, and share them on social media platforms.
